Resource guarding is typically an anxiety related behaviour surrounding a horse's resources, such as hay or feed, shelter and water. We most commonly see this behaviour around hay, which not only causes upset and stress to the horse but their herd and companions too. So, how does one address this particular issue?
In this episode of Track Talk, we talk about why resource guarding happens and how we as owners can address our management to combat these particular issues. We also share some examples of two horses we have rehabilitated for resource guarding behaviours and exactly how we did this without sacrificing any fundamental yet crucial needs of said horses.
